Masking for the next week, January 3 -7, 2022:
Good evening Families and District Staff of Galesburg-Augusta Community: Schools. .As we return next Monday, you can trust that our goal is first safety and second keeping school open for staff to teach and students to learn and be supported. To that end, the District will be requiring all staff and students Prek-12th grade to wear masks. From Monday, January 3 to Friday January 7, masking will NOT be optional. This includes on our buses to and from school. I know that not everyone will agree with this decision. However, with the numbers of positive Covid cases still high in our county and families having spent time with friends and loved ones over the break, giving 7 additional days of safety with masking is the right thing to do in order to keep learning from being disrupted. The district will have disposable masks for any staff or student who needs one next week.
I continue to be optimistic that the G-A Family will work together and get through this.
Sincerely,
Wendy Somers, Superintendent
