2021 Bond Proposal - Athletic Facility Video Currently, our track and field middle school and high school students must travel to and use other school districts’ tracks for both practices and for all meets. Without a new track facility, our students will not get the chance to practice their skills on a daily basis, reach their performance goals nor perform in front of their own community. Additionally, we do not get to take advantage of the income earnings potential from hosting home events--funds that could be used in our athletic and after-school programs for such things as school events and trips, uniforms, equipment, two-way bussing, and participation fee relief. 2021 Bond Proposal - New Buses Video Our bus fleet is an aging fleet that requires increasing and costly repairs to keep them safely on the road. School buses are expensive, approximately $100,000 per bus. The district has purchased one new bus annually for the past few years. However, the fleet still has an average age over 11 years with high mileage rates--an average of over 121,000 miles. From an operations standpoint, it costs significantly more to maintain older, high-mileage vehicles. 2021 Bond Proposal - STEAM and STEM Video For three years, G-A has been adding STEM/STEAM courses K-12. This type of curriculum incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, and Art. These programs are collaborative-based, group-oriented classes where projects are examined integrating all subject areas. Students examine real world problems and develop engineering process-focused solutions. 2021 Bond Proposal - Multipurpose Space at the High School We may be a small district, but our high school students still need experiential learning opportunities that increase their preparedness for life after graduation. Having the flexible space of a multi-purpose facility will allow our high school staff to add such things as: large group presentations related to health and safety, career and technical education options throughout the county, job fairs, college application/FAFSA nights, fine arts celebrations, large group projects, robotic competitions, music, speech, theatre, debate, and additional P.E. classes. 8th grade volleyball had a great battle tonight vs Constantine. In a three set contest the Rams lost in an exciting, hard fought match 25-23, 21-25, 24-26. Proud of the girls effort, enthusiasm and skill. GA pride.

Tonight is the opening night of Middle School volleyball. Our lady Rams will host the Constantine Falcons starting at 5:00 with the 7th grade game. The 8th grade game will follow. Concession stand will be open, please support our Athletic Boosters. Go Rams!

After missing our Walk to School Event last year, we are able to host this event this year. Middle School will walk on Wednesday, October 6. Students in grades 4-7 will be dropped off at the Augusta Library. The walk will begin at 8:05 The Primary event will be Friday, October 8. Students in grades 1-3 be dropped off at the entrance of River Oaks Park. The walk begins at 7:35 Permission slips are being sent home this week. Please return by October 1

Today’s soccer camp will happen as scheduled. In case of bad weather we will be inside the primary gym. 1st-3rd grade 3:00-4:15 4th-8th grade 4:00-5:15 (Brown bus to Primary) There will be a short meeting with Vu Le, training director of the Portage Soccer Club, after each session.

Youth Soccer Camp tomorrow. Students in grades 1st-3rd will meet in the gym after school. The camp will be on the football field from 3:00-4:15. 4th-8th grade students will get on the Brown bus after school and ride to the Primary. The camp is 4:00-5:15. There will be a short meeting after each Session with Coach Vu Le from the Portage Soccer Club.
