Welcome to the Galesburg-Augusta Primary School!

Galesburg-Augusta Primary School houses the Pre-school through 4^th grade grade students in the Galesburg-Augusta Community School District. The 2011-2012 enrollment is 474 students, K-4, plus 61 pre-schoolers.

We are served by 30 professional staff members, including 18 classroom teachers, who teach in single graded classrooms, two creative arts teachers, a physical education teacher, two special education teachers, a school psychologist, a part time school counselor/special education social worker, a speech and language pathologist, and a director of Title I services.

Our building is conveniently located on the corner of 35th Street and Battle Creek Street in the City of Galesburg. It sits on a 30 acre site and consists of 21 classrooms, a spacious media center, a mobile computer lab, a resource room, a stage, a cafeteria, a competition size gymnasium, a music room, an art room, a counselor’s office and an office complex, which includes a health room and principal’s office.

The entire building is networked and configured for wireless connectivity.  We have two playgrounds (one later Primary and one early Primary).  We also have a before and after school day care (G-A Learning Center) that has more than 50 children signed up. The Learning Center children use the cafeteria, classrooms, gymnasium and playground.

Among the school activities are:  Science Fair, Movie Night, Quiz Bowl, 4^th Grade Battle of the Books, Jump Rope for Heart, Daddy Daughter Dance, numerous Field Trips, Walk for Juvenile Diabetes, Field Day, Snuggle up and Read Day, many March Is Reading Month Activities, Winter Carnival, Look What We Can Do Day Music Day for all classes, Holiday Sing-a-long, Halloween Parade, Fruity Fridays, Girls on the Run, Fire Station Visit, and much more. There is a parents’ organization (AFGAK) that raises funds and organizes activities for the children. There is also a beautiful Court Yard outside the cafeteria.
